 ​River Plate renews contract with 16-year-old midfielder Mastantono


River Plate officially announced that the club and 16-year-old midfielder Mastantono have renewed their contract until December 2026.

On March 19, local time, the player and the club's senior management completed the signing in the office. After the extension, his contract will expire in December 2026.

His contract extension stipulates a release clause worth 45 million euros, and this amount will reach 50 million euros in the last ten days of each transfer window.

At the same time, the two parties also agreed to extend the contract from January 2025 to December 2027 (all operations will always comply with relevant FIFA regulations). FIFA regulations prohibit players under the age of 18 from signing contracts for more than three years.

Mastantono is a player who likes to control the ball and can create opportunities from the central and wide positions. Other European giants such as Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Barcelona have also shown interest in him.
